Meet our staff members…
John Bulovas, DVM Diplomate American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Canine and Feline)
Dr. Bulovas has more than 20 years of veterinary experience and is a respected member and mentor in the veterinarian community. He is board certified by the American Board of Veterinary practitioners for canine and feline practice. He is TPLO certified and has performed hundreds of these surgeries since 2002. He has additional training in advanced internal medicine and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Bulovas completed Board certification in 2008 and is a member of a select group of canine and feline specialty practitioners. He received two undergraduate degrees and a doctoral degree from Texas A&M University. He played football as part of the 12th Man Kickoff Team in 1989 and is an active member of the A&M Letterman Association. He is a member of the 12thMKOT foundation which gives scholarships to students attending Texas A&M University. Many of the funds are from donations and sales of “No Experience Required”, a book written by Jackie Sherrill, the former football coach and athletic director of Texas A&M.
Dr. Bulovas is the last of eight children and is a native Texan. He and his family have lived in The Woodlands for more than 16 years. He and his wife, Jennifer have three children plus Tinkerbell, a terrier that was rescued when she was a pup.
Angela MacFarlane, DVM
Dr. MacFarlane earned her DVM from Texas A&M in 2005. After graduating, she continued her training and education by completing a one-year small-animal medicine and surgical internship program at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Austin, TX. After completing her internship in Austin, she settled in the Spring area. Her husband, Rob, is an Assistant Principal and they have a son, Ethan, and a daughter, Emma. They also have a black lab named Abby and a boxer, Baby, they rescued.
Kendal Kelley, DVM
We’re excited to announce the addition of our newest veterinarian, Dr. Kendal Kelley. Dr. Kelley earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas and her DVM from Texas A&M University. She loved her time in Austin and College Station but calls Houston home. In her free time, Dr. Kelley enjoys spending time with family, watching college football, traveling, and being outdoors. She shares her home with a cat named Calypso and husband Scott. They hope to add a canine companion to the household soon.
Erin Overholt graduated as an RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician) in May of 2008 and came to work at the Animal Hospital of The Woodlands. She is also an alumnus of Auburn with a degree in Psychology. Erin’s spare time is spent with her two dogs Trevor and Sadie, in her flower garden, or scrapbooking. Her husband, Matt, is a pilot so she sneaks away to fun places whenever her schedule allows.
Chanda Brewer has been grooming for almost eight years, three of those with Animal Hospital of The Woodlands. She enjoys making pets look and feel great. Chanda is married and has two boys, three dogs, Captian, Bailey, Juliet, and one cat, Torch. When she is not at work, you can find her at car shows, fixing up her house and spending time with family.
Heather Ewart is a welcome addition to our grooming department. She has been grooming dogs for almost 10 years in The Woodlands and Conroe areas. Heather has two dogs, both Catahoula mixes, and four horses that keep her busy in her off time. When she’s not riding the horses, she can be found taking road trips on her motorcycle.
Abbey Foerester – the first thing you will notice about her is her cheerful laugh. She has been caring for your pet and you since July 2008. Abbey has one daughter who shares her love for animals. Abbey has opened her home to all different breeds of dogs, but her passion is for Giant Schnauzers.
Shawna Hewitt has been working as a technician at AHOW since February of 2007. She graduated as an RVT from the Tomball College Veterinary Technology program in 2004. In her spare time Shawna enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her daughter and husband.
Lisa Little joined our tech staff after moving here from San Antonio. Originally from Phoenix, Lisa has been a vet tech for six years. She enjoys educating owners on the health and care of their pets. She has one cat, Cash, that she bottle fed after finding him at her previous clinic when he was one-day old.
